CoWARN is a statewide Water/Wastewater Agency Response Network (WARN) of “utilities helping utilities” to:
- Prepare for the next natural or human-caused emergency.
- Organize response according to established requirements
- Share personnel and other resources statewide, by agreement.
The Mission of CoWARN
The mission of the CoWARN network is to support and promote statewide
emergency preparedness, disaster response and mutual aid assistance for public
and private water and wastewater utilities for natural and human caused events.
Purpose
The purpose of CoWARN is to facilitate a formalized system for water and
wastewater utilities to help each other with mutual aid during emergency
situations. CoWARN is a partnership between utilities, various state
and local agencies, and water and wastewater organizations.
Participation
The CoWARN Mutual Aid Agreement is available to all public and
private water and wastewater utilities in Colorado. Participation in
any emergency response is voluntary, and membership in CoWARN does not
obligate members to offer or accept aid.
Agreement
All actions, recommendations, etc. are made in accordance with the articles of the CoWARN Mutual Aid Agreement.
