Disaster Management for Water & Wastewater Utilities -- see flyer and agenda for more information, 1.6 TUs applied for in all categories  


This course is designed to provide training to multiple levels of personnel within the water and wastewater communities on management of natural and manmade disasters, to include responding to and recovering from the incidents by using U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and National Incident Management System (NIMS) recommended procedures.  Topics will include the following:
  • Threats to Water/Wastewater Systems
  • Major Legislative Requirements
  • Mitigating Threats to Water/Wastewater Systems
  • Responding to Threats Against Water/Wastewater Systems
  • Recovery from Disasters

This event is sponsored by the City of Ft. Collins, Ute Water Conservancy District, and the Colorado Dept. of Public Health & Environment.  CoWARN leadership recognizes this course as a valuable tool for emergency planning.

This 4-hour overview is designed to provide managers with an understanding of the types of events -- natural or man-made -- that can have disastrous effects on their utilities.  The course also addresses threat response, public health response, and government assistance using the USEPA Response Protocol Toolbox and Unified/Incident Command.
